•Volunteer with The Forsaken Generation Project. We are a nationwide organization. No matter what city, state or town you live in we can use your help. The number of homeless children is higher than ever. With many shelters being at capacity and winter on it's way we are in a national state of crisis, your volunteer efforts are needed now more than ever. We are currently looking for Shelter coordinators, Student Homeless Liaison Coordinators, and Media Coordinators. You can also volunteer at a local shelter in your area. Email us for a list of opportunities.
•Help us by contacting our policymakers. State legislators, Governors and Federal Legislators are a great start. Contact us and we will provide you with a list of your local and state policymakers. We will also provide you with sample letters to send to them. Get your friends and family together and help us organize a letter writing campaign or phone bank operation.. there is power is numbers! If you are a student this is a great activity to organize at your High School or College.
•Contact the media. Newspapers and, TV stations are vital in making people aware that children are homeless. Email us and we will send you a sample press release to send to your local media outlets.
•Participate in peer outreach and community-based outreach to prevent youth homelessness in the first place. If you think someone you know is considering running away or already has, call 1-800-RUNAWAY or contact the Family and Youth Services Bureau to help find shelter for a homeless youth.
•Stay up to date on upcoming opportunities with Forsaken Generation. Visit us on MySpace, Facebook or Twitter to stay up to date on how you can help.
•Buy a Forsaken Generation T-shirt. All proceeds go to benefit our youth homeless project. But please not only buy the shirt but wear it and help us spread awareness for this very important cause.
•If you are in High School or College help us start a Forsaken Generation group at your school, if you are interested in forming a group email us today!
